Himalayan Wedding

Bhutan is truly a land of beauty and wonder, with many exotic places, beautiful untouched nature, fascinating culture and wonderful people. This ancient kingdom is one of the most exclusive tourist destinations. Imagine you set your wedding in Bhutan – the Kingdom of tradition and happiness - followed by a honeymoon combining indulgences and adventure in one amazing destination, you will have hundreds of beautiful memories to cherish throughout your life. Your friends attending the wedding will also have an unforgettable experience.

Flying to Happiness , Paro, we have created a beautiful Bhutan wedding ceremony—a moving, spiritual blessing ceremony led by Buddhist monks. The event takes place in an ancient nearby temple. A Bhutanese wedding is much more than a simple exchange of vows and rings. It includes a number of religious rites performed by Buddhist monks and lamas. This represents the importance of the bond between a husband and wife. Our wedding package designed for bride to be, honeymooners as well as for couples who wish to renew their wedding.

You will be dressed in a fine traditional Bhutanese costume – Gho for the man and Kira for the lady and experience a two fascinating hours when 5 to 10 lamas and monks take you through religious rites in an ancient formal manner witnessed by your friends and families. The chanting of the monks will be accompanied by the sounds of the Bhutanese traditional drums, horns and cymbals to bless the couple for a long, prosperous and happy relationship. You will then enter a ceremony of exchanging vow through a Buddhist ritual of exchanging Kha Dhar – a white shawl – blessed by the head monk along with the symbols of the eight lucky signs.

Kha dhar is an indispensable and ceremonious element in the Bhutanese tradition and is used at every important event to wish and greet one other. “The white colour of kha dhar symbolizes the immaculate sense and is an act of faith. Khadar is an offering of a clean and compassionate mind, with devotion and love. The wedding ceremony will be conducted in the morning hours, couple, and any accompanying guests, may bring along offerings for the temple, including butter, lamps, incense, small notes of cash and fruit, should they wish. They could buy strings of prayer flags and have them blessed for their loved ones.
